Malaysia Turns 53

Independence Day is supposed to be a public holiday for Malaysians. But not for those working in my company. We work for many different countries, therefore we follow their public holidays. Despite of this reason, we still preserve Malaysian culture. All staff has to wear traditional outfit during certain occasions and Independence Day is one of them.

It's been a long time since I wear baju kurung or qipao. The very last time should be during National Service when I had to perform a drama. So, I find myself a lil awkward in baju kebaya. Bro said I look almost like a tree. LMAO...

What do you think???

Love to see my colleagues in traditional outfits of different races. Malays wearing qipao, Chinese wearing baju kebaya, Indians wearing Punjabi suit. We practise One Malaysia!

Somehow, I agree with Azli that we looked as if we were going for Raya celebration instead of going to work. Maybe 2 in 1 since Raya is near the corner.


No holiday for Raya as well. We'll be celebrating it with our computers.

Selamat Hari Raya

Hari Raya is one of the best celebrations we have in Malaysia. The main attraction would definitely be the food. Perhaps youngsters like us might be eyeing for some duit raya instead.

Since I was younger, dad used to bring us for visits to his Malay friends' home. The one that I enjoy most is at Pak Cik Zainal's who stays in Sentul. His wife is a very good cook. She always prepare a variety of traditional Malay delicacies for their guests. Her biggest task of the year. Must be darn tiring.

Too bad I missed it this year. Thanks to my final exam. Dad asked me to stay at home and study.

Argghh... I want all the GOOD FOOD!

Among my favourites: Nasi beriyani, lemang, sayur lemak, rendang, ayam percik

That's not all. I'm a big fan for cookies too.

Why on earth did Hari Raya fall in between our exams? Whenever I heard the fireworks, I would be annoyed. Thinking bout those people who are enjoying themselves while we are burying ourselves with books as thick as a plank. So unfair.

I WANT MY HOLIDAYS!

If it isn't the exam period, I would be earning as much as RM400 working for only 2 days of public holiday. High opportunity costs I'm bearing indeed. There's nothing that I can do to change the fact. All I can do is to blame the bad timing. Yeah, put the blame on something else. LMAO.

Anyway, wish all the Muslims SELAMAT HARI RAYA AIDILFITRI and the non-Muslims HAPPY HOLIDAYS...

Happy Independence Day, Malaysia!

Let's get things started here today, at this very moment, in conjunction with our Independence Day eve. Oh yes... Tomorrow marks Malaysia's 52nd year free from British colonial rule. Our prime ministers have been performing their role well enough to preserve our country's independence for that long huh? Seems like it.

So this is our current Prime Minister, Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Abdul Razak.


Independence Day eve is meant for Malaysians to gather at the heart of Kuala Lumpur and countdown for 12am to struck. But then, I didn't do that for bout 3 years. Why? Coz TARC exams always fall around that period. Another reason would be, I'm quite reluctant to squeeze myself into the huge crowd. Mind you... H1N1 is getting more serious. You would choose to be safe and stay at home instead.

Speaking bout exams, I have yet to complete even a 10% of the overall revision progress. Die hard this time! Will get a headache for sure whenever I see the books "smiling" at me. Sounds familiar? Ms Chin always say that. Remember?

Around 6 more hours to go before midnight. It's 6.30pm. Let's take some time off to have dinner and FACEBOOKING, shall I? LOL...


By the way, Happy Birthday Malaysia... I love you!
