Exam Silly

I've been bugged by exam for nearly 2 months. Those days were so hard to live through. No fun at all! Went through the same routine everyday. Besides 2 meals a day, toilet business, 3 episodes of drama and 6 hours sleep, I spent most of my time munching on books and notes and whatsoever study materials. So dull right?

Well, this 4 lettered word brought the most chaos. The tremendous tense and heart-weakening moments. I took the remaining 3 papers - P3, P6 and P7 last month. So wish to pass all and I'll never see those papers ever again. But I doubt it. No wonder students always say June sitting is a killer.

It's hard to describe how saddening I was after the 1st paper. OMG... Totally unpredictable questions. Start sweating once I flipped open and read the 1st question. Hands trembled non-stop like nobody's business. Oh boy! I never experience such a thing during last December sitting.

As usual, I'm putting in my least expectation to avoid huge disappointment at the end of August. That's when ACCA results will be released and we'll all see how good or bad we fare. Either we cheer or we cry out loud!

Internal resits had juz over last week. Absorbing what I've read for P1 and P3 is not easy. Brain went rusty after half a year of rest on those subjects. Burnt the midnight oil for 2 weeks at McDonald's to memorise business models and all sorts of theories.

*sigh*

Fortunately, I'm still alive. Still afford to laugh. Still afford to smile. Wahahahaha...

Not gonna think too much for the meantime. Better look forward to my new job. Time to move into the next stage of life.

Zubinos Coffee Shops

Final presentation of the semester.

Spent ages doing research, compiling report, goggling images, producing video, preparing slides and setting up our dummy consulting company, Rubicon & Partners. Restless nights for almost a month. Thanks to Zubinos, there are acne scars all over my face.

*long sigh*

But all the hard work paid off when our presentation ended in a good way. Mr Tan didn't comment much bout our performance. Overall satisfactory. But as far as I can see, each group did a hell lot better than the previous presentation on Dutch Lady.

Kudos AFA2!

It has been our custom to take group photo at the end of every presentation. Juz to record down the look we had in formal wear. Exceptional physical appealing eh?

The "professional" consultants & Mr Tan (aka Mr Luis Zubino)

A close up with Mr Tan. Smiles of relief!

As the so-called Assistant Project Manager, ehem ehem... I wanna express my token of appreciation to my beloved groupmates - Justina, Yik Hua, Cai Feng, Karmen, Victoria and Zi Ying. Without you gals, our assignments wouldn't turn into success. Sorry for my short temper all these while and thanks for bearing with me.

*sending flying kisses*

My beautiful ladies (Karmen MIA)

Jin Hui who acted as the Project Manager of the other team, took the opportunity to take a photo with us too. Well, my team has the most female members. 7 of us.

Ahh... Such a bliss

Done with indoor photography, we continued with outdoor. Wahahaha. Camera addicted kings and queens on the go.

My class rep, Mr Joe

I personally requested to pose this way. LOL...

Part of the guys from my class. Handsome???

Proud being SBS students

Moved to a 3rd spot for our photo shooting. The ever famous TARC graduation arch.

Solo with the giant pile of books

Nice one

Big Guy's Surprise Visit

8.45pm. Received a sms from Wey Shin while having dinner.

"Laura, are you free? I yamcha with Thian Hoe in Sri Rampai now. You wanna join? Can come slightly later. Take your time. Thian Hoe said if you don't come means don't give him face."

*in shock*

What a short notice! Sped to Old Town in Rampai Business Park within 30 mins. Normally, I don't give a damn for unplanned hangout. But it's a request from the dearest big guy who came all the way from Subang Jaya, so I made it an exception.

The very last time I saw Thian Hoe was somewhere in January when I was doing my CNY shopping in Midvalley. Bump into him coincidentally and chatted for a very short while. Yesterday, we managed to sit down at ease and updated each other with our current issues from A to Z while sipping the famous milk tea and white coffee. Woohoo...

Big guy in green

He seriously changed a lot since he left TARC 2 years ago. Absolute positive changes. He's been doing very well in studies and turns into a responsible leader. Physically, he has slimmed down so much that he claims to be a lost of prosperity. Gotta see him with your own eyes to believe. One word... WOW!

The threesome

Had a great 3 hours talk with these people. May we have another night like this sometime soon.

Too Good To Be True

Last Monday was a predicament to all ACCA students who sat for December 2009 exam. Results to be released at 2pm. But people were sitting in front of their computers, trying to log into the website as early as 12am. Well, one of them was myself. Hehe... Too ashamed to admit though coz it was written on the website "results available from GMT 0500 onwards" which is 2pm in Malaysia. My mistake!

Was too afraid to check my results. I lowered my expectation in order to avoid disappointment. Hoping to get a pass in PA as I think I did fairly well. While my coursemates were results shopping during AT lecture, I had nothing to share. Received the notification from ACCA later than the rest of them.

So, let's begin to scroll.

Very slowly... One by one...

Wow... To my surprise, I passed 3 out of 4 papers. What a bliss!

22 February 2010 is one of the historical day in my life. I hadn't been so fortunate for a long time. The feeling couldn't be described by words. Used to grief so much over my nasty results ever since my 1st failure in FM last year followed by PA and BA last semester. Now, I have something to be proud of.

I did it. Yes, I've regained my victory. My parents were overjoyed. I believe grandpa is looking over me from above. Thanks for all the blessings, grandpa... Will see you on Ching Ming next month.

Looking forward to June's sitting. I wonder how I'll be doing then. May luck always stay by my side. God bless too.

Assignments Once Again

Last semester no assignment, all progressive tests...
Complained too much to be STUDIED!

This semester 4 assignments, only 2 progressive tests...
Complained too much PRESENTATIONS!

Pretty ironic, isn't it?

For the past 3 weeks, 2AFA students have been annoyed to the max by 2 assignments.

Firstly FDM. Should we invest in Dutch Lady? Should we not? Nobody knows.

Secondly ME. Presentation in Malay language. Duh!

Whatever it is, I kinda enjoyed the time doing business analysis and applying critical thinking skills into the project. From presentation wise, I personally think I performed badly. I spoke like a M16, shooting random piece of information to the audience.
I panicked?

YES!!!

Gosh... I wasn't really being myself that day.

Marks given were not revealed by Mr Tan yet. The wait is killing me. Anyway, sad times would not stop us from having photo session. Muahahaha...

Pretty group members. Love you gals >.<

Our previous P1 & current FDM lecturer, Mr Tan Vooi Giap

Sweeter than honey. Haha...

Future business associates!

Whose finger on the top left corner? *cough cough*

There were more photos in Yee San's handphone. But the idiotic snatch thief took all our memories with him. No backup. Grrr...

Last photo of the day

Does the pose look familiar to any of you? LOL...

Countless Attempts

Date: 18 January 2010
Time: 10.07 pm
Venue: Room sweet room

Updating blog at this very moment. 1st post of the brand new year! Woohoo...

Happy Belated New Year to you guys.

As usual, time passed really fast. It's the 3rd week of 2010. This should be my longest period of disappearance, eh? I kinda missed out a lot. No post on New Year celebration, no post on New Year resolutions. Practically, I didn't start the new year quite well. It was a HOME ALONE thingy. So, I don't see the need to blog bout it.

Many things happened these few weeks. 3 major issues.

Put them in a summary, shall we?

Issue #1: Assignments
The urge of meeting deadline is back, ruling the life of all 2AFA students. FDM analysis sucks big time. Totally have no idea of what we are crapping in those PowerPoint slides. Will be presenting this Thursday. Hopefully we can bypass Mr Tan with ease. Most of us are worrying over ME. Presentation will be conducted in Malay. Duh... Been 'N' years since I ever use proper Malay in conversation.

Bahasa pasar boleh lah! XD

Issue #2: Double responsibilities
I'm sick of being an assistant course rep and sub-printing manager at the same time. Thinking of the good old times during diploma, I seldom complain bout my work load no matter how bad things turned out to be. But now, I easily get upset and stressed up. For what reason? I don't know. I juz hate how people send unnecessary sms asking me this and that. I hate how people pushed me so hard to get their printing done. Damn! I can't do magics. Look for David Copperfield if you need one.

*puffed*

Issue #3: FM Resit
Gotta face the music again. TODAY! Despite being reluctant, I went through it wholeheartedly. I feel as if I'm going to puke whenever I see those notes. Still, reality is reality. It was my 2nd last chance to clear it off and I guess I screwed it. I don't wish to blame others but the lecturer has to be partly responsible if I failed again. Such nonsense questions he set for the exam! Bloody hell. He implies too much on practical theory which in my opinion, we are not up to that level. Mind you... It's a Skill module. Even a Professional module student like me think it's difficult, how bout the juniors? Why did I have to get a BIG SURPRISE in every FM paper? Am I not worth to get a pass forever?

*CMAO - Crying My Ass Off*

I seriously need an escapade and I realised I hadn't been to the cinema for ages. Sherlock Holmes is still in my pending list and many many many more!

Don't think I'll be able to accomplish this mission too soon. Progressive tests will be seeking in next week. Oh shit... This month is all bout EXAMS. Lifeless January.

2010 ain't a good year for me, I predict...

Exploring Big 4

Some of you must be wondering what the heck Big 4 is. As for accounting students, I don't think further explanation is needed. Straight away these few famous accounting firms would come popping into mind...

PwC
KPMG
Ernst & Young
Deloitte

Yeah, we juz visited one of the Big 4 on Monday. Located next to Sri Pentas and 1U.

GIRLS... Aren't you excited? *wink*

A bit of an intro here. The building has 2 towers. One belongs to IBM and the other belongs to KPMG. There are many other tenants around. KPMG only occupies 6 floors. Their exterior and interior are simply amazing. Professional yet stylish.

The photos alone are very captivating. What bout seeing it with your own eyes?

Upon arrival, we were being welcomed by their HR staff. The first agenda of the tour was a seminar by Ms Peggy from the tax department. Have you get the idea where we were supposed to be heading to? The meeting room.

So, up we went to the 10th floor. Woo...

Saw the portrait of 9 ladies and gentlemen? They are our successors, the current FAS committee. Looking suave in their formal attire. Oh... By the way, this office visit was their first activity. I would say it ran smoothly under Ms Geh's guidance. Kudos juniors!

Some refreshments were provided at the end of the day. Tasty pastries and hot coffee. I personally love the custard puffs the most. Yum yum...

A quick shot of everyone before we left. Nice one!

Monday Blues Not

12th October 2009. Monday.

This is how my day gets a head start...

8am BA lecture at DK ABB. Woke up looking like a zombie. Drove to college with an empty-stomach. Reached there only to find out less than 50% of my coursemates turned up. Duh! Surprisingly, Mr Yeoh's 2 hours internal exam feedback session this morning didn't bore me at all.

Look... I have a good news and a bad news. Which one should I enlighten first?

The good news...
I learnt a lot from his feedback session. He never clearly emphasize on exam techniques before this. He briefed us bout it today. Now I have an idea where I gone wrong.

*Gulp*

The bad news...
I realised my answers could be major wrong. Meaning my BA may be as ill-fated as CR? Oh no... Anyway, I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping both Mr Yeoh and Dr Amy marked my paper with mercy. God bless!

No use crying over spilt milk. In order to reduce the risk for external exam, I signed up for BA revision in Kasturi. Man... November is gonna be a hectic month. Run between Kasturi and McOrange. The fees alone sum up to RM1500. Slightly, more expensive than a sem in TARC. Gotta make sure the return is worth the spending. Else, mum and dad will be so disappointed.

Said has always seem to be easier than done. I'm still being a big fat worm lazing around, avoiding the books whenever I could. LOL...

My bank account showed a balance lesser by RM280 after the registration. Things worsen when I made my way to Times Square while driving back to Wangsa. Was too temptated to watch Surrogates. Managed to catch the 4pm show just on time.

*phew*

This movie kinda blew me off. The visual effects are so real yet so fake. May be impossible these days. But who knows years later? Couldn't imagine myself living in a world of machines though. Creepy! Imagine yourself staying indoors at all times, afraid of injuries and aging or death. Dependent on robotic surrogates to do every task. What life is that?

"Say NO to surrogates. Live humans!"

Errr... Shouldn't have revealed too much. Bet those who have yet to watch the movie are cursing me for spoiling their anticipation. Guys, head to your nearest cinema soon.

Had a light dinner before going home. Been starving throughout the movie.

Old Town butter kaya toast & milk tea

Yummy... Anything would taste like heaven when you are hungry. Oh yes!

Kada-Boom

Longest BA lecture I had ever attended yesterday. 8 hours including an hour of lunch break. Hmm... Not 8 hours exactly. There were some slacking in between due to technical problems. Long story. To keep it short, I'll just sum up everything.

Basically, problems arose thanks to TARC's poor maintenance and lacked of agility even after so many rounds of complaints. The same old lame excuse would be heard all the time.

TARC is a semi-government institution. No extra funds to improve things in one shot. Don't expect too much.

Hey, it reminds me of Balogun and Hope Hailey's model. The heading sounds:

TARC takes on incremental change instead of a Big Bang. Evolution vs Revolution?

Opps... I bet problems will remain unsolved if words are not turn into action (adopted from Dr Amy =P).

So this morning, Dr Amy and another lecturer had a slight argument because of some equipment in-functionality. As a result, those innocent students as I mean us moved from one venue to another and another. Wasted quite some time and of course, irritated some of us too.

Well, that's TARC. Quality & Affordable Education!

Things finally settled down by 11am. Problems free. One hour later we had our lunch break and when we were back, surprise awaited Dr Amy. It was her birthday and we bought a cake. In substance, it was me who bought the cake. Legally, it was a share by all of us using the course fund. It's mango flavored from Baker's Cottage.

Doesn't it look appetizing? Unfortunately, we didn't get to melt it in our mouth. Couldn't take too much time. Just a quick birthday song and a "short" speech by Dr Amy. Was kinda touched when she claimed to be appreciating everything that we did for her. The whole lecture hall turned silent when she spoke and it was really overwhelming.

Thanks for sacrificing your big day to look after these bunch of "monkeys". LOL...

We dismissed around 4pm. Brought my baby Kembara to service in Sri Rampai and then, shopped for some goodies at Carrefour. Thought of getting a nap when I reached home. But I ended up having dinner at Hometown Steamboat with Poh Yee and Cheng.

Overall, the food was so far so good. The ingredients were fresh and succulent. I love their soups best, both tomyam and broth. They do serve in porridge as well.

We ordered only a 2 persons portion plus a jug of sea coconut drink. Unbelievably, we left with a full tummy. Was it the food or our small appetite that matters? Haha. I seriously have no idea. Try it yourself. Highly recommended for steamboat lovers as an alternative to Restoran Talipon though Hometown may be a little more costly.

Poh Yee paid for the bill. RM42 in total. Her first treat since started working. Thanks for the meal, my roommate! Simply delicious...

P/S: Did anyone realise my hair colour is no longer copper brown?

Feelings Cafe

War starts tomorrow. Time to face the music. Read and read and read. Still, my mind is like a total blank sheet. Status: zero data stored. Dang!

Whatever. I juz couldn't miss my housemate's birthday celebration. It's one of our house rules to celebrate everyone's birthday ever since we moved in. Haha. Usually we planned celebrations among us. Yesterday was the first time we celebrated together with outsiders.

First of all, may I present you the birthday boy?

- MR LAU LIK KEONG -

Happy 23rd Birthday, Siu Keong! Ngeks...

See... That's him holding 2 birthday cakes. How lucky! Initially, Poh Yee and I thought of asking him to go for a drink and bring out the birthday cake as a surprise when 12am struck. Later we found out his college mates and colleagues were planning the same. Why not combine both? Good idea. So, we went to his favourite hang out place. FEELINGS CAFE.

We were the only girls among the 8 guys, including the birthday boy of course. Felt awkward in the beginning. I only know 2 of his friends. The rest were complete strangers. But we mixed together quite well. Nothing is more important than the birthday boy is happy.

While browsing through my photo gallery, I came across all our birthday photos so far.

(Clockwise from top left: Wei Ling, Me, Lik Keong, Poh Yee)

Our birthday cake... Yum yum...

These photos worth a million dollars. Wei Ling has left the house as she moved back to her hometown for internship 4 months ago. Only 3 of us remain as housemates. Truthfully, I really treasure the 2 years period of stay in this house. Best housemates I ever had!

Rainy Tuesday

Weekend comes to end. Weekdays come to start. Argghh... Gotta get back to college, attend lectures and tutorials. Can't the weekend be a lil longer? Though yesterday was an additional public holiday, I never seem to have enough of days off. Greedy me! But I bet everyone agrees to this.

It's already Week 15. Getting some nerves towards the exam. Read a chapter in the CR textbook before sleep yesterday. Well, it's a good start. At least I did something. Only PA is still in the KIV status. U know... "Keep in view". Haha.

Almost late for BA tutorial this morning. The weather was so cooling. I was snuggling in my warm blanket when my alarm rang. Raining mildly when I left home. Dammit! I hate to get my feet wet. Walked a long way to K block from the car park. The building is shabby and it looks as if it's haunted. Eww... Mosquitoes are everywhere. Bad morning huh?

Having my lunch break now. Ms Chin's lecture at 2pm. Gonna take a quick nap to get my brain ready for a torturing 2 and a half hours session of accounting standards. FRS... IC Interpretation... IFRIC...

*headache*
